A child's early years are a time of extraordinary development--it is a period of physical, emotional, and intellectual growth unequaled at any other time of life. Supporting a child's development during this critical period can help them to realize their greatest potential in learning throughout their lives.
Our programs encourage children to explore and create as they build their understanding of the world around them. Informed by Maria Montessori's educational philosophy and method, our programs emphasize individual self-paced learning and respect for each child's innate abilities, encouraging independence, self-confidence, and joy in learning.
We strive to nurture young children in their early social interactions. Helping children to develop communication and problem solving skills is one of our principal concerns. We emphasize cooperation, compassion, and conflict resolution. We believe unreservedly in education for peace.
Parents are their children's first and most important teachers. Based on active involvement, our programs support parents in this vital and challenging task, extending Montessori's philosophy and methods beyond the classroom.
Kaye Lubach was certified as a Montessori educator by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) in 1988, and has worked with children in Washington and California for many years. She holds a BA in Music from Sonoma State University and a PhD in Ethnomusicology from UCLA.
Kaye has also completed Level I training in both Kodaly and Orff-Schulewerk methods of music education, specializing in music for early childhood. She brings an understanding of music as a living cultural heritage to children of all ages, celebrating the diversity of musical traditions. Since 2008, Kaye has been offering Musikgarten's music education programs to families in Kitsap County, and is certified as a Musikgarten teacher.
With her experiences as a Montessori educator as a foundation, Kaye now also offers STARS accredited Continuing Education workshops for parents and caregivers, and has recently begun facilitating parenting workshops based on Jane Nelsen's Positive Discipline approach.
